Punch List

Once you have defined the area to be renovated, or the square footage of new construction that is contained in your project, we can help.  It is beneficial in the design development stage to begin thinking about the role art will play in your new space.  Determining key art locations and sizes early on in a project allows realistic budgets to be set.  It also allows lighting and other issues to be considered, avoiding costly change orders later on.  It is never too early, or too late to think of art.  By addressing art during early stages of design, you are able to realistically define your art budget and timeline and possibly keep the thermostats from being mounted in the center of your intended “art” wall!

On larger projects, preliminary site visits are helpful, as it allows us to better understand facility goals and design direction.  On small projects, we will review your plans and finishes and interview key personal via teleconference prior to submitting images for consideration.  Quite often at this stage, many ideas are developing and there are many variables involved.  We can help to define these options by creating preliminary budgets reflecting the different art types being considered.

Often times, this is where the project starts: In conversation with us listening to all that you can tell us about your facility and it’s patients.  We begin by asking questions.  Who are your patients?  Are you a sole community provider?  How far do patients travel to reach your facility?  What is the economic, ethnic and educational back ground of your patients?  What do patients do in your area do for recreation?  We then add this information to what you can tell us are the goals and the mission of your facility.  The golden rules you use to treat patients, as well as the desired  persona you wish the community to have of your facility help us to select images that reflect these qualities and emotions.  Reviewing finishes is helpful but not necessary at this stage.

Using the patient and facility information you provided us with, in addition to information regarding local landforms and types of vegetation, we will submit images for your review.  All of the images will be “appropriate” for your project and patients but there will be a range of styles.  This allows you to further define the art direction you would like to pursue.  Images at this stage are not specifically selected for placement.  Your selection of favorites and definition of dislikes allow us to create an art collection tailored to your facility and based on researched and informed decisions, thus benefiting both the patients and the facility.

Based on your preferences, we will locate images on an art location plan.  It is helpful to review finishes and furniture layouts at this point.  Image location is based on patient stress levels while viewing images, length of viewing time and viewing distance.   Images will be numbered and keyed to a location plan for your review.  We are happy to present these images, send hard copies for your review or  transmit the images electronically.

Continue working on art selection and placement until all images are finalized.  Level of involvement is up to you.  Often, designers and facilities are very interested in waiting rooms and lobbies.  In which case, we will recommend specific selections for these spaces and then present “typical” corridor images for different areas, as well as “typical” patient room art, again for specific areas.  This allows the owner and designer to direct image selection without everyone getting caught up in size and exact location issues.

This may be a formal meeting or may consist of final image approvals made through email.  Using e-mail to circulate images  throughout the planning process allows great communication between artists, clients, architects, designers and consultants.

An itemized quote reflecting all images and framing will be submitted.

Upon receipt of deposit, art will be ordered.  Poster Art takes approximately 2 weeks to receive, original photography approximately 3 weeks and commissioned art work up to 6 months depending on the artist’s schedule.

Projects of 50 images or more will need up to 6 weeks for framing with additional time allowed for shipping, depending on distance.

We are happy to install your art work, or send instructions on the security hardware so others can install.

When we install, we will finish the installation with a walk though with someone from the facility making sure all is in order and then requesting a signature on our receiver stating that all pieces were received and hung.
