Inland Imagery: Maine’s coastline is matched in natural beauty by inland landscapes and luminous seasonal splendor. As a way to carry visitors though all of the beauty that is Maine, artwork on each floor featured different geographic formations. Local artists were selected for their contemporary, crisp, up close representation of recognizable landscapes and elements of nature.
Art Program Supports Maine’s Economy: Mercy’s art program goals were to illustrate the “Spirit of Maine” while supporting local art and the community they serve. Distinctive Art Source led committee members through a creative process resulting in the selection of 70 pieces of art by 13 local artists, including 2 employees. Local original art equals 31% of the 225 piece art program representing contemporary depictions of seasonal land and seascapes integral to Maine life.
To further help Mercy economically support their community, DAS partnered with local framers and printers spending 43% of the total art budget locally. |
