Young Patient Discovers New Passion for Photography

When Sydney’s doctor told her she could no longer play sports after surgery, she was heart-broken. That kind of news can be devastating for a 14-year-old girl. Fortunately for Sydney, Children’s Hospital Central California had the perfect opportunity for this young lady. Distinctive Art Source had just issued a Call for Artists on behalf of Children’s and Sydney answered the call and discovered her new passion for photography.

Sydney was one of 11 artists whose works are on display in the Paramount Farms Expansion at Children’s Hospital Central California. The photographs were taken at the annual Color the Skies Balloon Festival, which raises funds for the hospital and brings together families from throughout the Central Valley.

After learning that the hospital Art Committee had chose to purchase her photo, Sydney and her family traveled to Children’s to see her artwork on display. Sydney’s mother tells us this was the perfect thing to boost her daughter’s spirits and encourage her to keep up with her new hobby.
